PittsPerformanceVan Nuys, CA – (September 18th, 2010) — Team Pitts Performance continued it’s domination of IKF Region 7 this time at Perris Raceway in Perris, Ca. With the Region narrowing its classes down to just eight categories Team Pitts walked away with four poles, three wins and 14 top 5’s.

Jacob Drew lead off the domination by qualifying on pole in all three of the Cadet classes. Jacob came home with the win in the PRD1 category as well as a second after a heated battle with Pitts teammates Colton Herta and Christian Brooks in the Junior 1 category. In his final class Jacob put in a valiant effort leading almost all the way through in KPV1 before racing to the finish line only to come up just .058 seconds short of the win. Still a stellar performance with 3 poles a win and two seconds on the weekend.

Colton Herta also performed at the top of his game all weekend. Colton qualified impressively by gaining a third place starting position in KPV1 and a second place qualifying in Junior 1. After problems in the heat race in KPV1 Colton was forced to start dead last for the main event. Colton charged through the 21 kart field and finished 7th running laps times equal to those at the front of the field. The battle among Pitt’s teammates at the front of the Junior 1 field was won by Colton. With a crafty last corner move Colton won the race to the line over teammate Jacob Drew by just .027 seconds.

Christian Brooks had another stellar weekend atop his Pitts Powered BA1 chassis. After a carburetion problem in qualifying put Christian in 15th he battled back to 8th in the main running lap time’s equivalent to the lead group. Christian who is always super competitive in the Junior 1 class continued running at the front at Perris. After qualifying third Christian was in the battle for the win until the end, coming up just a little short for third.

Justice Lepe kept climbing his hill back to the front in the cadet classes as well. After months of struggling to run competitive Justice has been making his way toward the front slowly, but surely over the past couple months since joining Team Pitts. At Perris Justice came home with his best career KPV1 Region 7 finish with a 4th place. Justice raced hard to stay in the top 5 in Junior 1, but came up just short in sixth spot. Justice is one to watch for in the future at the current rate of improvement Justice will be winning races soon enough.

New comer to Team Pitts in the KPV1 category was Cooper Whitbread. After moments of genius throughout the weekend Cooper managed a solid 12th place finish, but watch carefully as Cooper has his eyes on the front and will be contending for wins soon enough. In only his second IKF race young Zack Kurtz battled all weekend through the woos of an IKF Sophomore, but Zack is one of the most determined kids in karting and with his work ethic he’s bound to make great improvements in future IKF Races.

Kid Kart was again complete domination by the Pitts crew. Anthony Willis stole the show all weekend with the class sweep, pole, heat win and main win. It was not easy for Anthony with Pitts teammates lined up behind him. Tiger Ortiz battled until the end with Willis taking home second place by just .298 seconds. It was a Team Pitts top 7 with Carson Enright third, Dezel West fourth, Joseph Daniele fifth, Hayden Wagner sixth and IKF rookie Tanner Hudspeth 7th.

In Junior 2 categories Josh Kurtz and Jake Craig led the way for Pitts Performance. Josh Kurtz put in his best IKF weekend to date with impressive top five finishes in both PRD 2 and KPV2. Kurtz managed a career Junior 2 best finish in PRD coming home third and snuck in at fifth in KPV2 to cap off his impressive weekend. Jake Craig led almost every lap in KPV2 before just getting nipped at the line by .243 second to come home second.

Team Pitts Performance will be finishing out the IKF season before moving their focus to the SKUSA Supernationals and other season ending events. Watch for future detail on the Pitts driver’s results.
